I’m here to help (you know the whole fairy godmother thing and all). But after a certain point even us, fairy godmothers, get tired of repeating the same crap over and over again. So this is our starting place. I’m starting at the very beginning so that we can grow together. So that we can have a nice foundation before building the house, so to say. This foundation is going to be built on three problematic “tips” that one of your “friends” has probably told you. Number one, ‘oh, you have oily skin. Don’t worry about buying moisturizer then, you're just naturally born with all the oil you need’. Now imagine that coming from Regina George, because newsflash everything about that was just RUDE. You oily beauties deserve better. You also deserve to know that your skin needs moisturizer. Moisturizers don’t add water to your skin, they just hold hydration on the outer layer of your skin keeping it hydrated. There are moisturizers for oily skin, and please use one. On the topic of water though, another “tip” that I have heard going around is that ‘drinking more water will get rid of acne’. Uhm?!? What do I even say? I already know most of y’all aren’t drinking the recommended 11 cups of water per day. So are we talking on top of that or is it included in that mini lake we’re supposed to be drinking. Anyways it shouldn’t matter, because there is no science backing this claim. While water brings necessary vitamins to your body and helps your body filter out toxins. It has no direct connection to impacting your skin’s hydration, which is the only way it could improve your acne. Due to the fact that I’m supposed to be looking after you, I do feel obliged to remind you to drink your recommended 11 cups of water though. It will make sure that you're peeing all day, but at least you will be hydrated!!! Moving on to our last “tip”. We have the infamous ‘exfoliate everyday!!!!’. I don’t know besties, this “friend” of yours is pretty sketchy if you ask me. Exfoliating everyday is stripping your face of its natural oils therefore leading to MORE breakouts. Also if you are using a physical exfoliant it could cause micro-tears on the surface of our skin which could lead to inflammation and bacteria infecting the tears. Please just stick to two to three times a week. It would be better for you, and it would be better for me. All right, now that I have single-handedly saved you from making some life-changing mistakes, I need to take a nap. Saving the skincare world is hard work besties….brb.
Love,
Your Fairy Godmother xoxo 🤍
