my june top five (2021)

Writer: Keira OostburgKeira Oostburg

Dear Diary,

For a while now, I have been obsessed with Vogue’s Beauty Secrets youtube series and GQ’s ‘10 Things “insert name” can’t live without’. I have always enjoyed watching others share their favorites and give recommendations, so I thought that I could put my own spin on the trend. Every month I will share five of my favorite products at the moment. This will be anything from foods to bath products, to drinks. I had tons of fun putting together this month’s list, so I hope you enjoy this series.

Product 1 → Dr. Teal’s Body Wash with Pure Epsom Salt (more specifically the Shea Butter & Almond Oil one)

To be honest, I was influenced to buy this product after seeing it on tiktok. The tiktoker was a law student who was sharing her self-care routine. The video was all around extremely aesthetically pleasing, and another one of the products from it is also on this list. Overall, this product has left my skin very moisturized and soft. It has a light smell, that isn’t that noticeable. The pump makes the product extremely user-friendly, and it lathers very easily. On the label, it does mention that the body wash contains pure epsom salt, but I haven’t experienced any differences then body washes without the promised epsom salt value. It’s not a problem for me though since I love the other components so much, but if you were relying on the epsom salt that is something to think about before buying.

Product 2 → Dr.Teal's Body Lotion (more specifically their Sleep Lotion with Melatonin & Essential Oils)

This lotion has the most heavenly scent. It’s floral and light, but sorta grounding ( if that makes sense). The lotion isn’t thick, but also isn’t too runny. It makes your skin so soft, and I have bought bottle after bottle of it. It was also recommended by the tiktoker mentioned earlier. I would say that if I was forced to pick out a con, it would be that it absorbs into your skin on the slower side. But I also apply quite a lot, so that could be why. Honestly, this is a 10/10 product that I have been recommending to friends for a while.

Product 3 → Deep Sleep Pillow Spray by thisworks

I have a racing mind and need a way to calm it while I try to fall asleep. This product has not only helped calm me but also makes me fall asleep in a matter of minutes. It smells of lavender and is in a spray bottle container for easy use. Honestly, for products such as sleep sprays, it's hard to tell if they work or you're just really tired that day. But so far it hasn’t failed me.

Product 4 → Wildflower Phone Cases

I’m extremely accident prone, from dropping my phone off of a moving treadmill to it falling off my bed. It’s never safe. I bought a wildflower case almost a year ago, and since then I have had no chips or breakage. The sides are nicely cushioned and protected from all my dumber moments. They also are some of the cutest cases to exist on planet earth. They have everything from blown-up photos of the owner’s eyes to butterfly designs and a collaboration with Emma chamberlain. I have a case that says “stop looking at my phone”. I think it perfectly describes both my social anxiety and sassy attitude.

Product 5 → Starbucks Creamer: Caramel Macchiato Flavor

This is the best creamer I have ever tried. It’s inspired by Starbucks’ Caramel Macchiato drink, and it makes your drink taste all caramelly without it becoming artificial. It tastes natural, and I believe it is as well. It’s creamy, sweet, and overall something you need to try. I have it in my ice coffee, but it also works well in hot coffee. 11/10 for this one.

There you have it, a current round-up of my everyday staples. If any of you try these, please tag me in your photos so I can see them. :)
